Customizing ideas for your Kornerkeeper Decorating Ideas |
| Paint the Kornerkeepers, We have painted them successfully using the following listed paints purchased from Hobby Lobby and followed the instructions on the can. We used the Rust-Oleum brand American Accents, Sweet Pea, Green Apple, Iris Blue, French Lilac, and top coated them with Rust-Oleum, American Accents, Clear Top Coat, Matte Clear. You may try other brands of paints, I am sure many others will work, but you may want to test it on the back first to see if it sticks properly. (PIC)
You can even paint the Snap-in frames that hold the photos into place with a contrasting color for even another custom effect. (PIC) |

Attaching 3rd Party Objects, There are too many ways to list all of the ways to attach separately purchased objects and decorations, but we will try to give you as many as we can. You may try the following adhesives: Hot melt glue, Epoxy, Double stick tape, Mounting Tape, Velcro, Transfer adhesive, 3M Command Strips, Scotch Clear Mounting Squares, Adhesive Putty, Adhesive dots, Glue dots, and some glues. Most of these adhesives can be purchased at home improvement stores, office supply stores, hardware stores, and craft supply stores. Keep in mind when using these attaching methods that you should always follow the directions that comes with the product. If you are not sure how the adhesive will react, test it on the back of the Kornerkeeper, in a small area, before using. |

Rare Earth Magnets, Rare Earth Magnets are small metal magnets that are very strong for there small size. Please note that putting magnets too close to your monitor screen can damage it. I purchased ½ inch diameter round magnets, 1/8 inch thick at my local craft store, I also found some at Walmart. The way that I use them is on the outside edge of the Kornerkeeper (the part that turns back 1 inch). I placed one of the magnets on the inside and one on the outside so that they hold each other in place securely. Note, that I am placing the magnets on the outside edge of the Kornerkeeper to keep them far away from the monitor screen. You can place them in one spot or in multiple spots all around the edge. You now can stick all kinds of ferrous metal objects to the edge of your Kornerkeeper. And if you do not like where it is, it is real easy to move them where you like. I like to use them for my metal pen, paper clips, a metal decorative item and even my small metal calculator. (PIC) |

Super Sticky Notes are easy to use and you can find them at any office supply store. Just remove one of your pictures, peal the back off of your Super Sticky Notes pad and stick it into place. I like to leave the snap-in frame from the picture in the pocket, it gives it a nice contrast. Make sure that you use the "Super Sticky Notes" because the regular sticky notes will fall off of the pocket. (PIC) |

Velcro, I purchased some 2 inch wide Velcro from Home Depot. It was called Velcro Brand Fastener, Industrial Strength. I cut two 3 ¾ inch long strips of the loop side. I laid them tight, side by side loop side down and taped them together with masking tape. I then turned the Velcro over and taped the loop side together. This held the two pieces together for cutting. Turn the Velcro back over, loop side down and take the Kornerkeeper "photo cutting template" and trace the pattern onto the Velcro and cut it out. After cutting, you should test it to see if it fits into the Kornerkeeper photo pocket. Trim off any areas that may be too snug. Then carefully peel off the backing and stick into the pocket, afterward remove the masking tape from the loop side and done. Note, it will work even better if you can cut out a 3/16" thick piece of wood or board or something the shape of the pocket first then stick the Velcro to your 3/16" board or what ever and doublestick that board into the pocket. This would allow the Velcro to be almost flush with the front of the Kornerkeeper. Then cut pieces of the hook side of the Velcro and stick it to what ever you need handy, a highlighter, small scissors, small stapler, your correction tape, staple puller, and what ever else you may want handy. (PIC) Also, if you want to preserve the photo pocket for photos, you can always use Velcro anywhere else on the Kornerkeeper. Just stick a tab of loop Velcro on the side of the Kornerkeeper and stick a tab of the hook Velcro on your highlighter or whatever, and now you will always know where to find it. (PIC) |

Dry Erase, board. You can purchase dry erase board material from most craft supply stores. The material that I purchased is "GOwrite" dry erase self stick roll by InVision Enterprises Inc. I am sure there are other brands out there that will work. I just take the Kornerkeeper "photo cutting template" and trace the pattern onto the Dry Erase material and cut it out. Then just place into the photo pocket followed by the Snap-in frame and your done. You can also attach a Dry-Erase Marker to the edge using Velcro. Or I liked the "Boone" brand dry-erase markers called "ReWritables" they are dry-erase markers that have a built in eraser and magnet (there is another brand out there that is pretty much the same). They are very handy and can be held in place easily by magnets (see magnets above). (PIC) |

Flags, are real handy on the Kornerkeeper. I used 3Ms Post-it small flags in dispensers (4pack). You can find them at any office supply store. Remove one of the pictures from the photo pocket and use removable double stick tape on the back of the dispensers and stick them into the photo pocket. I like to leave the snap-in frame from the picture in the pocket, it gives it a nice contrast. You can also adhere a piece of colored card stock behind the Flags for a more finished look. (PIC) |

Hooks, many different types available, I like the ones made by 3M Command Strips. You can buy them just about anywhere. I got mine from Home Depot. If you do not like the color, paint it. (PIC) |

Recharging Station, a product by 3M Command Strips, Cat. # HOM-11. A great little product that I picked up at Office Depot in the Command Strips section. It can also be found at many other retailers and online. Even Amazon.com has it for a good price. It can be used to hold many devices like your Cell phone, MP3 player, PDA, blue tooth ear piece, and many other small electronics that you have at your desk or sync to your computer. The holder has holes to allow for the cord. You can even use your creativity and fill the cord access openings with paper or cloth and use it as a pocket to hold your odds and ends around your desk that you like to keep handy. (PIC) One drawback to this product is that it is made to be removable, but since it is adhered inside the photo pocket, you are not able to remove once adhered. |

Pocket/misc holder, use the Recharging Station, a product by 3M Command Strips, Cat. You will need to use a little creativity here and fill the cord access openings with paper or cloth in order for it to be used as a pocket to hold your odds and ends around your desk that you like to keep handy. On mine, I used some acetate that I picked up at the craft store that I cut to fit the inside and taped into place. I included the pattern that I used for my acetate, just click and print. (PIC) (Pattern for acetate) One drawback to this product is that it is made to be removable, but since it is adhered inside the photo pocket, you are not able to remove once adhered. |

Document Holder, The Grip Clip is a great little product that can hold a document or business card, and it looks really good in our logo corner. You can buy them directly from us, or in packages of 3 from the container store or at www.funxionalproducts.com. (PIC) |

Mirror. Some of our users like to have a vanity mirror/boss watcher mirror. You can purchase convex blind spot mirror from automotive stores and in automotive sections of discount stores, and adhere them into the pockets. Just make sure that the Diameter of the mirror is less than 3.5 inches across. (PIC) You can purchase small travel, compact, or purse mirrors at your local beauty supply store, and adhere them into the pockets. Also you can purchase mirrors at craft stores that fit nicely. Just make sure that the Diameter of the mirror is less than 3.5 inches across or a square mirror that is no larger than 3 1/8" across. To be safe bring your "photo cutting template" with you to make sure it will fit. (PIC) Also you may have an old compact with mirror lying around that can be disassembled for the mirror and adhered into the pocket. You can also adhere a piece of colored card stock behind the Mirror for a more finished look. I find that flat mirrors from the craft stores work best for vanity mirrors and the convex mirrors from the automotive areas work best as boss watcher mirrors. |

Notebook or Address Book. I purchased a small address book by Mead from Office Depot for under two dollars and simply adhered it to the photo pocket with Velcro. Its dimensions are 3 ¼" X 2 3/8". It is a great place to keep track of all of your passwords that you create on all of the secured web sites that you visit. You can purchase small notebooks and address books at discount stores as well as office supply stores. It would probably be a good idea to bring your "photo cutting template" with you to make sure it fits. If you can find one that is close, it may be possible to cut it down to fit. You can also adhere a piece of colored card stock behind the book for a more finished look. (PIC) (PIC) |
| Calendar. Open up the PDF file below to download a 2011 and 2012 calendar that will fit into the Kornerkeepers image pocket. The calendar is 4 months per page. Print the file, cut them out and insert them under the Snap-in Frame. Note: When printing, be sure that you do not scale the the calender file, the Page Scaling settings should be set to None. Also the quality of the colors and the print are brighter and crisper when printed on photo stock paper. I prefer Luster or Matt photo paper for this product. (PDF) |
